Digital renminbi (e-CNY) (e-CNY)New

China's digital renminbi, issued by the People's Bank of China and distributed through operating institutions to people and businesses. From 1 January 2026 the PBOC's new framework treats balances in banks' e-CNY wallets as interest-bearing commercial bank liabilities counted in the reserve base ("version 2.0", deposit-type money), while non-bank operators hold a 100% e-CNY margin. Also the main currency settled on mBridge.
