Monument Bank tokenised retail deposits on MidnightNew

Monument Bank, a UK savings bank, announced in March 2026 that it will tokenise retail deposits on the Midnight privacy blockchain with the Midnight Foundation, which it called a first for a UK bank. The first phase covers up to GBP 250 million of client savings as one-to-one tokens that stay interest-bearing, redeemable in sterling and FSCS-protected, with transaction details visible only to the bank and its customers. Later phases are to add tokenised investments from outside asset managers and Lombard-style lending against them, and a Monument affiliate plans to offer the capability to other banks. No go-live had been reported by October 2026.
