Sachsen-Anhalt state crypto bond on SWIATNew
The German state of Sachsen-Anhalt issued a EUR 100 million two-year bond as a crypto security under the Electronic Securities Act in June 2026, the first German federal state to do so. The bond is entered in DekaBank's crypto securities register on the SWIAT blockchain instead of a global certificate, and settled on the issue date (T+0) rather than the usual five days. DekaBank was lead arranger, bookrunner and paying agent; investors included DekaBank, Helaba Invest, KfW, LBBW, NRW.BANK, Union Investment and WIBank. The rating agencies rated it in line with the state's conventional bonds (Aa1/AAA).
