Standard Chartered Malaysia ringgit stablecoin pilot with Capital ANew

Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia is testing a ringgit-denominated stablecoin for round-the-clock business-to-business wholesale settlement, with Capital A as its commercial counterparty, in a separate sandbox within Bank Negara Malaysia's Digital Asset Innovation Hub (onboarded February 2026). The bank says the coin is designed to fit conventional and, potentially later, Islamic finance principles. BNM treats ringgit stablecoins as a new instrument and plans to give clarity on them by the end of 2026. No transactions have been reported.
