EIB digital bond on public EthereumUpdated 18 Oct 2026

The European Investment Bank's first digitally native bond, a two-year EUR 100 million issue recorded as tokens on public Ethereum. Société Générale-FORGE ran the registry and settlement, and the underwriting banks paid the EIB in a Banque de France wholesale CBDC token as part of the French central bank's digital currency experiments. Investors paid in ordinary euros. The bond matured in April 2023.
