Maybank tokenised deposit pilot for cross-border corporate paymentsNew

Maybank is testing tokenised deposits for cross-border corporate payments and liquidity management, one of three pilots Bank Negara Malaysia onboarded to its Digital Asset Innovation Hub in February 2026. Transactions are anchored to existing regulated payment rails to keep settlement final. A live test with Yinson, completed on 25 March 2026, settled atomically with a built-in ringgit to Singapore dollar conversion outside normal banking hours. Maybank is also looking at programmable payments from large corporates to their SME suppliers. BNM plans to set out its policy on tokenised deposits and ringgit stablecoins by the end of 2026.
