Wells Fargo tokenised depositsNew
Wells Fargo is adding tokenised deposits, a blockchain form of its commercial bank money, to its corporate and commercial payments offering so clients can move funds between accounts, subsidiaries and counterparties at any hour, with programmable conditional payments to follow. Announced in August 2026, it was to start in autumn 2026 with selected clients and US dollar to sterling transactions, then widen through 2027 to all eligible clients and more currencies. The bank says the tokens keep the same protections and deposit-insurance eligibility as its other deposits and run on its own blockchain platform, which it has not named.
Announced since 4 Aug 2026[1] — No launch or first transaction confirmed by a primary source as of 2026-10-15; an autumn 2026 start was announced. · Reviewed 13d ago
