CIMB tokenised deposit and tokenised sukuk pilotNew

CIMB's pilot in Bank Negara Malaysia's Digital Asset Innovation Hub, one of three the central bank onboarded in February 2026. CIMB is testing tokenised deposits for capital-markets and treasury workflows (delivery versus payment, regulatory reporting, programmable payments and intragroup liquidity) and says integration with RENTAS and the Central Depository System is a design condition. In August 2026 CIMB Islamic Bank completed what it called Malaysia's first settlement of tokenised sukuk with tokenised deposits: a RM1.68 billion issuance under its RM10 billion Senior Sukuk Wakalah Programme with five- to 15-year tenors, of which RM1.38 billion was issued in tokenised form to 12 institutional investors and RM300 million conventionally. No ledger or technology provider has been named.
